Monochrome Madness Week 45 – Fungi

In an attempt to be a more regular blogger this year – one of my many New Years Resolutions – I am hoping to participate in Monochrome Madness each week. I participated a few times last year, but couldn’t keep up with a routine.

Monochrome Madness is a black & white photography challenge hosted by photographer Leanne Cole on her blog. She does a great job every week of receiving submissions and publishing them as a blog post – huge job!

Anyway my submission this week was a group of small fungi that were growing in a hay bale in the backyard. We use the hay as mulch for the vegie garden, and these little fungi, only a few centimetres high, suddenly sprouted one afternoon. I like the composition of this shot – although the fungi are in the middle the angles of the hay balance the image nicely.

To check out all of the images from this weeks challenge visit Leanne’s blog 🙂

  1. I love the mighty mushrooms, and will go over to Monochrome Madness, too! I would love to take pics like that — I already have so many arts and crafts and writing projects on my plate it’s now become a room-sized platter. But I do take nature shots all the time — love this one.
